2022-2023 President Lonndon Blake

Welcome to the Junior League of Champaign-Urbana (JLCU). I’m humbled and elated to serve in the capacity as President for the 2022 – 2023 league year. This year will be especially exciting for our organization as we’re celebrating multiple milestones; a 50th anniversary for our incorporation into the Association of Junior League International (AJLI) and 90 years of service in the Champaign-Urbana community. The history made within this organization is impactful due to our members, community partners and the citizens of Champaign-Urbana. 

The women of JLCU are leaders in the community who are committed to advancing women’s leadership , creating meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training; all while being committed to fostering and supporting inclusive environments of diverse individuals, organizations, and communities.  Our training and development is supported by active and sustaining members who additionally work and volunteer alongside other nonprofits in Champaign-Urbana.  

When establishing this year’s theme my goal was to incorporate what matters most to our membership and where all their tireless efforts go. This year’s theme is Commitment to Community with an additional focus on Progress over Perfection.  We will enhance our engagement within the community all while focusing on elevating our projects to better serve Champaign-Urbana and the surrounding communities and progressing in our individual personal and professional goals.

Thank you JLCU members, for trusting in the vision for the next year, sharing your time, talents and financial resources to ensure that 100% of our fundraising dollars go directly back into our community projects and high school scholarships. Additionally, thank you to our community partners and donors. The work you do in the community is invaluable and we wouldn’t be here without you.
